Today was a very windy, and lovely day. I was riding along on my Fuji, feeling rather jolly enjoying the pollen, the breeze, and the lovely flowering trees. I'm not sure of what they are but they have pretty pink petals and look like cherry blossoms. The road on which I live is lined with dozens of these pretty trees, and so today the wind had swept the falling petals to the side of the road in a thick layer. I thought it was fun riding through them until I had to come to a stop. I hit my brakes and the next think I knew my Fuji flew out from underneath me and I hit the deck hard on my left hand and side. Ouch, road rash. These little pink bastards are slippery! Even though I landed hard on my left hand there were no cuts or scrapes. The baby soft, pretty pink petals, must have cushioned my fall.
The moral of this story is that flower petals are in fact more dangerous than wet leaves.*
