Bastards of Young (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap0p7mhu4w0)
no other band could match them for depth and range. From a howlin drunk all the way to 11 punkfest, down to a soft whisper you could barley hear above the hush at "The Point", this song embodied them for me. Didn't hurt that it was about a college radio station I grew up with.

Go to YouTube and search for "Replacements" and "7th Street Entry". You'll get a full show (in about a dozen parts) from 1981.
Thank me later.

I saw the Replacements play in the early 90s in Sunrise. A little band by the name of the Cavedogs opened up...

Er . . . I dunno. The mats were a really good band, though. I guess if I were a replacements song I'd be playin' at the talent show. Somewhere.

P.S. Does anyone have a copy of **** Hits the Fans? I would love another copy of that and my car still has a cassette player. Please speak up if you have it!

Kids Don't Follow
Shallow, ill-conceived, poorly-considered, and best distanced-from.
But you can DANCE to it!

Well apathy's got a hold on me
And it won't let go
Tell me your problem, I'll tell you mine
M*therf*cker you're gonna know
Well I can go for a change
Go for a jog
Tell me about your rock band
Tell me about your job
Shut up
