2008 Olympics, Anyone have spectator Info?

I'm looking to vacation for a week in August and am interested in going to watch the olympic road race. I've poked around online and I've found the official schedule (http://en.beijing2008.cn/cptvenues/schedule/) , but not much else. The official tickets site (http://www.tickets.beijing2008.cn/browse?category=8208) states that the event is a non-ticketed event. I guess this means that I can just show up at the finish line and fight for a place to view?

Did anyone go to the last olympic road race? Any info? Anything from anyone? Like I said, I haven't seen a heck of a whole lot online.
