I have a friend I ride with, who has a fear of all things carbon fiber. I was thinking of selling a bike of mine that has an integrated headset. He said "I like that bike, but I would never buy it, because they don't make steel forks for integrated headsets." Is this true? Could you have a frame builder make you one? Is there any reason why this would be a bad idea? Just curious. The bike is a Ti Litespeed with the the ugly bulbous headtube.
Functionally, there is no difference in the steering tube diameter, where the crown race sits. Integrated forks are just larger near the crown race, to make a pleasing transition with the head tube.
Afraid of carbon forks? Kind of silly if you ask me. Just going out on the road is a far greater risk.

I was thinking that making the top of the fork larger would make the thing be pretty heavy.
