Yes, there is an issue, but you have at least two possible ways around it:

1) Friction DT shifters (unlikely you'll do that)
2)J-tek shiftmate (info here (http://jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm) )

Use the 105 - they're 100% as functional as Ultegra or DA.

Use a short cage XTR rear derailleur. M950 is a flat dark grey, M960 is a rich, pretty dark grey.
