new legend, arrived slightly damaged

after a long three weeks, my legend ti showed up at the bike store, but inspecting it at the LBS i could see dings & scratches around where the seat stays and top tube met the seat post. I asked the LBS to send it back for serotta to make it right... anyone know what kind of turnaround i'm looking at for the frame to come back?

wow that surprises me. was it damage in shipping, unpacking or building?
this was a new bike?

the shipping materials looked fine, and when the LBS guy took it out of the packaging they were careful. it must have been scraped in the factory or when it was put into the packaging and not noticed (not that visible unless you're up close). It kind of looked like the scratches could have been made by a tape gun or some sort of serrated edge like the side of a screw or something.

steel wool is cheaper than shipping the thing back for someone to hit it with steel wool or a scrub pad?
or is it paint?
