This makes me want to order two hotdogs, the next time that we're at the ballpark. The Marlins total payroll is less than ARod's annual salary.

The irony is the Marlins organization will be extremely profitable this year. If they lose 162 games, fill up 1/5th of the stadium for the year, the management/owners will still roll in the dough. The Marlins won the World Series a few years ago and the organization should be ashamed. With cable/tv deals etc, a few folks who own/run the Marlins will make a boatload, while the fans lose out. A-Rod will pay for his way, he'll bring in more than what he gets paid. Hey, it's America...make the buck while you can (just don't go calling 'Kristen').

Yankees = capitalism
Marlins = socialism

"Shaq, he is a rich man. The guy that signs Shaq's check? He's wealthy."

You gotta love an industry where the taxpayers build the factory.

But the jobs it'll create, man! The jobs!

Uh huh. Yankee Stadium has turned the South Bronx into a paradise, hasn't it? But, of course, it's only had 85 years to do it. Let's try again....

Of course, some fact-checking Yankees fan will run out and get the financing report and go on about how it was a bond act or some such thing but it seems like every time the team owners want more boxes for the high rollers they hold their breath and stamp their feet and threaten to leave town until they get their financing/tax breaks...

Opiate del pueblo.

Not mine. I am an overpaid, underworked union member. :banana:

We make millions to sit around! We love taking down large corporations.

BTW, I will admit to having considered the salaries of sports players when I went to an NBA game a few years back. I was shocked at the slow play and lethargy by all involved (except the cheerleaders, who were smokin' to say the least! :banana: ). The tickets where we sat were close to $200 each and you would see better basketball played by going to a local high school game.
