I will admit I have a wide variety of movies that I enjoy. i love documentaries about times i was not alive. I am fascinated about animals and bugs. I love action films, epic or mindless, i love dramas with who done it endings, but I will admit a huge joy in my life is to watch absolutely senseless humor. I love the sophomoric wit of the Wilson brothers, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn and that entire crew.

I am sure many of you have much more refined tastes then this simpleton, but I was watching Blades of Glory with my wife on Sunday and there is a scene where Will's character and Jon Heder's character are stretching and Heder slips and rams his foot into Will's package.

I had forgotten that and almost wet myself laughing so hard. I have not stopped thinking about that since. Watching 5ht graders at recess and some of the stupid things they do keep the memory alive.

Why am i sharing this?

No freaking reason, but I would love to hear some of your favorite movie memories. i have loads, but I just cannot get those two idiots out of my head.

I don't understand. You said that tubular tires would give me better traction, and the glue, it just makes sense.

The seasonal transition scene with Hugh Grant walking through his neighborhood in "Notting Hill" with "Aint No Sunshine When She's Gone" playing in the background. Great directing. Great music.

In terms of funny: The scene in Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" when two Yorkshire women are washing dishes at the kitchen sink having a conversation and a baby drops out of one of them, which is viewed as of only passing interest to her friend. I have never hurt my stomach laughing so hard as I did at that movie.

woody allen...sleeper

he goes to the mechanical robot jewish tailor...who take all the measurements and then makes the suit ..which comes out 10 sizes too big...
the robot looks at it and comes out with..." ok, ok, i'll take it in.."

had to see it.
some of the great crackup lines of all time in his early movies

My favorite use of a pop song in a movie scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVaX7hPacIUScary brilliant. As I watched that the first time, it took me back to a very bad place I'd once been. Thankfully, nowhere near that bad.

Here's another pop song in a movie: Cinema Verite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuvU0IGz3z0), atmo. A very bad movie with some timeless concert scenes. I shoulda found "I Fought the Law" for e-RICHIE, but this five minutes is better.

One of the most mesmerizing pieces of cinematography is the opening sequence of Grand Prix.

It was cutting edge stuff at the time withh multiple images and overlays all set to an orchestral score.

It was ballet of sights and sounds all wrapped around Formula 1 racing of that time.

And of course, Sean Connery's famous:

"....You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone!..."

of this thread. I'm pretty sure few have seen this, but I found it fascinating. The director, Merian C. Cooper also directed King Kong later. This is a silent film from 1925 titled "Grass". It documents the trek of Iranian tribes numbering in the thousands transversing a 12,000 ft mountain range with all their worldly goods, including their livestock. It is truly amazing.

It played on Turner Classic Movies here last evening.

I also love inane humor.

Speaking of music in movies, no one does it better than Jonathan Demme imho. It's like he stole my record collection or something.

I just stumbled onto this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuA-haidvac) some of you may appreciate - average movie but that's the freakin' Feelies in there! to Jonathan Demme!

...and I thought Spike used a different version of "Fight the Power" than on the album. That clip confirms it - Lots of Coleman-esque sax crackling in the background. Just superb.

But I think I'll be playing "Crazy Rhythms" when I get home.

"Chapter one. "

"He adored New York City. He idolised it all out of proportion. "

Uh, no. Make that "He romanticised it all out of proportion. "

"To him, no matter what the season was, this was still a town
that existed in black and white and pulsated to the great tunes
of George Gershwin. "

Uh... no. Let me start this over.

"Chapter one. "

"He was too romantic about Manhattan, as he was about everything else. "

"He thrived on the hustle, bustle of the crowds and the traffic. "

"To him, New York meant beautiful women and street-smart guys
who seemed to know all the angles. "

Ah, corny. Too corny for a man of my taste.

Let me... try and make it more profound.

"Chapter one. He adored New York City. "

"To him, it was a metaphor for the decay of contemporary culture. "

"The same lack of integrity to cause so many people to take the easy way out... was rapidly turning the town of his dreams..."

No, it's gonna be too preachy. I mean, face it, I wanna sell some books here.

"Chapter one. He adored New York City, although to him it was a metaphor
for the decay of contemporary culture. "

"How hard it was to exist in a society desensitised by drugs, loud music,
television, crime, garbage..."

Too angry. I don't wanna be angry.

"Chapter one. "

"He was as tough and romantic as the city he loved. "

"Behind his black-rimmed glasses was the coiled sexual power of a jungle cat. "

I love this.

"New York was his town and it always would be. "
