Hmmm . . . Maybe I'm just getting old and stodgy, but I'm not sure I find this very funny. :confused:

VeloNews? Not so much.
I'm such an idiot I was buying the Cyclingnews stories until I got to Judge Judy.

Dave;
If Davis weren't headed for surgery shortly it might be funnier but in this case I agree that the timing probably isn't the best.
I guess it says something thatboth e-mags have to stretch this far to find anything funny in cycling these days.
Where have you gone Bobke? We need you now more than ever.

they could have thought of something better
however, at least they gave it a shot

. . . if they ran this by Davis and Connie before publishing it and, if not, what they think of it? Speaking strictly for myself, I'm not sure I would approve of someone publishing a "joke" that says I would sell my children.

Since Connie was writing article for Velonews from the track races in England I am guessing she and Davis got the opportunity to "decline" having the article written or at the very least knew it was coming.
It wouldn't surpride me if Connie or Davis helped come up with it over a cappucino or a glass of red. They both have fairly active senses of humor.

I just found a better story that I hope is an April Fool's joke at Velonews.
I am poor at posting links so maybe someone can help me out but there is a story about Ball wanting to buy 2 seconds to reverse a loss by one of his riders by one second on GC.
Now THAT better be a joke or elsse he has completely lost it.

p.s. I thought the Phinney-Carpenter story was cute. My favorite line was:
"Prospective parents can expect to pay on the order of $250,000 for either Carpenter’s eggs or Phinney’s sperm to be combined in vitro with sperm or eggs of the prospective parents. However, for a cool million dollars, prospective parents can get both Carpenter’s eggs and Phinney’s sperm to be combined in vitro together to produce an offspring with a superior gene profile undiluted by lesser genes of either parent."

. . . Bruce was referring to. This one is funnier--racers getting off the course because they don't have radios and Ball hiring OJ Simpson to be his spokesman.

I think unfortunately for Bruce if he hasn't already realized that Ball has "lost it" then it's Bruce that's "lost it!" :D :rolleyes:
The popular one around my office so far is our city editor calling her husband at work--he's a teacher--and telling him Queen Elizabeth had died. She said he had already blurted it out to his class before she could say "April Fool!"
