View Full Version : FSA Compact compatibility with Record

I've been intrigued by some of the discussions of smaller chainrings and particularly the FSA compact crankset with its 34/50 chainring combination. However, I'm concerned about compatibility with my Campy Record front derailleur. The Campy website specifies a maximum capacity of 15 teeth, but the compact crankset has a 16 tooth spread. (Shimano Dura-Ace has the same specified capacity).

Does anyone have experience using this crankset with Campy Record? Any problems with shifting? Is front derailleur setup extra finicky with crankset?

Thanks,
Jay

Jay,

I just built a new Seven Alta with campy record and the new FSA compact (50/34). So far after three rides and 185 miles, the crank set works great with the campy set up. I am amazed at how easy it shifts. I have a 13-29 cassette and even with a small cage rear derailliaur there has been no issues with shifting. I hope this helps.
