I get nervous about bars and stems breaking since I have seen a few people get hurt. Ours are about 3 years old and we are not hard riders but put in the miles. Both bikes have Deda Newton Syems. I have a Deda Newton bar whiles hers is a Salsa Poco. I am curious about when to replace. Thanx.

3-5 years of good hard use is about it for bars. I dunno...my Easton CF bar is going to be switched out this weekend after 6.5 years service. My local shop keep stated that my 3T Forgie is a beast stem and he saw no point in my switching it out unless I wanted too for other reasons. I decided to continue to roll with it.

where there were pictures of someone having a bad break. I have seen stuff in the shop that really scared me. Not the breaks on the bikes but the canes and casts.
