I wear a size 44 in Sidis. Would the same size fit me for Shimano shoes? I know that they have a sizing chart (http://bike.shimano.com/catalog/cycle/products/category.jsp?JSESSIONID=HqnQvf6xnGgxsyHZVr7pJx1xf2 TmYZLyK9Hh9W89QtyXBzPGswfG!-1478507505&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302035957&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181202&bmUID=1206560576812), but I've learned from experience that you can't always trust those things.

You'd prolly be a 43 in Shimano.

I had a pair of shimano shoes for a while- they seemed to be a bit wider in the toe compared to my sidis

Anyone found a rough correlation between sidi and spcialized sizing? I wear a 45 specialized and Avispa's post for the 6.6/ergo 2's has me intrigued.

in my case - yes

I dont remember the model of shimano- it was one of their carbon soled ones- I dumped them because I dont like the stiffness of carbon soles-

I wear a 44 in shimano R-214 and 44.5 in sidi G5.
A sidi 44.0 and 44.5 are same length, the 44.5 is rommier in the toe box. Typically sidi toe box is narrower when compared to equivalent size shimano.

same here. a 46'no was a 46'di, just more room for toe jammo.
good stuff if you have insole issues.

Thanks to all for the advice.

The model I'm buying is the SH-RT50 sport touring shoe, and it only comes in full sizes, so I'll probably try first size 44, same as in Sidi. I'm planning on using them for touring and long-distance cycling, and my feet tend to swell up, so it's better to go for the looser fit.

I just bought a pair of Shimano SH-RT51 sport touring shoes, size 44 (I wear size 44 Sidis, as I said). They were smaller than I expected. My left foot is slightly longer than my right, and the left shoe fits too snug, so I'm going to exchange them for 45's.

I'd guess that Shimano may not be consistent in sizing across their line.

Important to note that Shimano changed its sizing a few years ago.

In the days of the R212 and R150 (the buckled and 3-strap versions, respectively), the lasts were extremely wide in the forefoot -- like an EE. Lengthwise, they were about a half size longer than a comparable Sidi, though if you liked a compact fit you could easily go a full size smaller.

When Shimano went to the R215 and R151 (and all the related lower models), the lasts were pulled in quite a bit and also made a bit longer. They were clearly a full size longer than a comparable Sidi, but they dispensed with the huge amount excess width in the forefoot.

The R300 and related models currently offered for sale are basically the same last as the R215 with somewhat more supple materials. If you are borderline on an R300, you probably want to give yourself a half size in an R215. The R300 is a superb shoe that improves the upper of the R215, but the R151 in particular is a superb shoe now on remainder prices at REI and elsewhere. If it fits you and you see it, it's worth grabbing.

By the way, on the R300, I question how many people really need the full custom fit. And unless really well done, it creates more problems than it solves. I've had very good luck (Shimano ads notwithstanding) with a strong hair dryer and just tweaking those spots that want to be tweaked. Especially when dealers charge you an extra $50 for a fitting, I don't think in most cases there's enough difference created this way (and preserved after the shoe stretches out again) to be worth it for most people. If you want to loosen the shoe around a bunion or whatever, you can do that if anything more efficiently with the hair dryer than with the whole baking process.

I wear 43 in Sidi. 42 in current Shimano shoes fit me well.
