Bottom bracket drop versus height

Why do some manufacturers state bottom bracket height rather than drop? Drop is fixed, whereas height requires some sort of assumption regarding the tire, correct? Is there a rule-of-thumb regarding converting one from the other? Specifically, what does a 26.6cm height equal in terms of drop?

Why the difference? who knows really.


Here's a chart for converting (assumes 700x23 tires)
But if you just measure from your hub to the ground,
and measure from the center of the bb to the ground,
you can calculate drop. Or with any two of those pieces
of info, you can find the third.
