Sorry if this (http://www.velonews.com/article/73528/campy-offering-600-record-red-levers-to-general-public) was already posted (couldn't find it).

The first word that comes to mind?

"Brunk"

:)

Nah - I was thinking of experimenting with some old levers until I find the right color of red magic marker to make my own. Who knows, maybe I'll have a set of red Veloce levers, too.

Once that's done, I'm planning to call a friend with an embroidery machine to transform a couple of my commoner-grade wool jerseys into cutting edge trendy Rapha jerseys.

Not the Red, but with the price on the 2006 Chorus so low now (various sources for different parts - Competitive Cyclist, Excel, etc) I'm finally going to a Campagnolo equipped bike again after a few years on Shimano.

For those who have 06 Chorus, the front shifter is stiffer than the current QS?

I never thought the older chorus was slow

Some how I thought the Chorus would be "good enough" for someone with my "abilities" - now I realize I probably would be much faster if I had sprung for Record, and even faster still if I went for the same feeling the pros have!

Huh? Who said anything about Chorus being slow? ;)

no, but the 2006 one takes about an extra click to move the derailleur.

Jerk, is that better than my 03 Chorus? That always felt snappy and clicked nicely.

i think so. it requires more force to make the shift. you're less likely to grab an extra gear inadvertently. i like it alot.

That can't be. Campy has used the same index gear for along time. The only difference between Record and Chorus is the teflon coating and lightening holes on the index gear.

Yeah, I mentioned something about that here. (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=42547)

Anyway, Why change? Especially now when Campy is about to release new parts (Ergo Levers, etc.) for their group(s) for 2009.

I have a feeling that Campy made too many of these "RED" levers (intentionally?) and teams didn't get as many. Campy probably have decided to dump them on the market before they announce the new stuff later in June/July....

Just pay close attention to what the pros will be riding in the Giro and Tour. If all the talk on the Net about modifications of some Record components is true, I will bet the pros won't be on "Regular-Red-Records...."

..A..

PS
For those that will get them, wait for eBay... they will be a dime a dozen if Campy releases something new! ;)

I got got a new chain, cassette and cables on my beat to sh*t four year old FUJI. It shifts beautifully, like a new bike. Old silver Centaur is the bomb.

I believe the question was the difference between QS chorus and non QS chorus...

You never know how much you want something until Campy says pros only - then the limited edition demand.

I would bet that this will be offered next year or earlier.

a good move in my opinion

also a thrifty move to get the Chorus stuff!
