Spoke,

Shouldn't you add an "How many have purchased your Serotta(s) used from non-dealers?" option? That would provide additional data on customer behavior patterns.

You probably want a "0" option too.

Thanks for your PM to answer my question. I initially did not understand what you were asking for.

I think you will get significantly more responses from this forum's participants and, hopefully, better data to review.

I bought a Fierte Ti a couple of years ago new from the dealer. Wasn't a bad bike, but no wow factor. Had it for about a year and let her go.

Probably my first/last serotta.

Interesting. Most cyclists seem to really like the Fierte, ti or otherwise. Maybe a custom would have worked better for you.

Oh it wasn't a bad bike at all. I guess at the time it just didn't have much of a wow factor. It did what a bike does, the ride wasn't great or terrible and I just never connected with it. I would have loved to have owned an Ottrott, but with the price it is I would rather work with IF on an XS and have it my way. I am sure I am in a minority, but I have tried calling and emailing folks at serotta several times and was never met with much enthisuasm or excitment. I am sure they were busy. Serottas while world class bikes just aren't terribly appealing to me. I have seen some of their older designs that I think are interesting. But when I think about a meivici I just roll my eyes and move on.

Serotta is a great company. I suppose not everyone has the same goals or tastes in mind.

No worries.

2003 Concours which has been rehashed into a TT bike
2006 Ottrott ST

Both full fit, dealer

Shortly, my 2004 Spectrum steel frame and fork will be available, as I'm taking the fixie setup off it and putting on another frame. This was a Specturm frame of the month, and pics of some of the lug and paint work are on TK's website.

60/56.5. Same specs, pretty much, as the Concours. Would be a great TT/Tri frame for someone with a 60/59-60 top tube road bike, or might fit as is or make a nice fixie.

The wow factor is either there or it is not. You just know when it is the right bike for you. In 1998 I test rode at least 15 different bikes, some in aluminum, steel, ti, and carbon. Most I did not like at all. I liked the Merlin Extra Lite (or whatever it is called), the Trek 5200/5500, and the Litespeed Ultimate. I also like all of the Serottas I tried- 2 steel and 2 ti. When I test rode the CSI, the wow factor was there for me. I was done.

I was able to ride a Nove a few summers back. A good friend at the big Serotta dealer lent it to me. Great bike. It probably was one of those times when I fit a bike or it fit me perfectly. I just rode it everywhere. I couldn't afford it, but I have never forgotten it.

I have tried loads of bikes as well and some have been nice, some not so nice. I think I got caught up in the Lance factor and began only looking at what the pro racers had. I forgot I was not a pro racer or even a Cat 100 racer.

The cool thing about the serotta was that it lead me here and i have learned loads about bikes since then...well I am still learning.

I like the Moots I have and it has sentimental value! :D Amazing how that can add to the enjoyment of the bike!

Like I said serotta is a brillant company, but for me I have different tastes.

Surely you must be a Cat 100 racer. I am a CAT 85 racer, and only average 8 mph....and that is down steep hills

1 new from a dealer and 1 lighly used demo (new frame warranty and eligible for crash protection) from the Serotta Garage. Stock model new and lightly used demo was custom model with standard geometry built for an average rider.

Well I took e-richie's advice and spent 70 minutes in the coffin, but I didn't travel far enough to record a mile per hour, so I got demoted to CAT 100.

all of this with a tail wind. Maybe I should have had a serotta!

How many of me purchased a Serotta?
How did you know about my multiple personality disorder?

If you are asking how many new Serotta's I've purchased from a dealer
in the last 5 years, the answer is two

I agree with atmo that serotta should be associated with racing to some extent, preferably with a competitive team. Wanted a race bike and was trying to decide between a merckx and a serotta...went with serotta because I liked the way the bikes looked and that's what Coors Light rode. Now have two.

nhx - Bought it new in 1992 from the lbs in stock size. Still have it and like it as much now as I did then.

ciii - Bought it on e-bay because that is how I could afford one. It was built custom but the geometry does not seem different than my other bike.

both KT and I got our Serottas through authorized dealers - her Concours in 1999 and mine (from a different dealer) in 2002.

We both went through the Serotta fit process as well - KT with a rep from the shop where we bought her bike; and Smiley did my fit.

Zero of me bought a Serotta. Ever from anybody. I saw some on a big group ride once. ;)

Saw Ben and Wife in Portland.

I'm just here for the

edit---

I certainly would buy a Serotta if I wanted a small-company, domestically produced bike. But I have other plans for future frames...

I went through a Serotta fitting (a great experience, atmo!) and then bought a stock Nove in late 2005.

I love it, and can't see getting rid of it any time soon. In fact I'm thinking about getting it painted next winter. It's like fine wine, getting better with age.

I've purchased two Serottas. The Legend was bought new from a dealer and the CSi was purchased from the classifieds section on this forum. The Legend was subsequently sold on the forum, too.
