Around 5:00 p.m., I was near the end of my ride and passed a young couple walking on a favorite road of mine (Club Dr. for those in the County). I said "hello" and they both said "hello" back. 10 seconds later I said to myself "I think that was Henrik Zetterberg. I won't forgive myself if I don't say hello."

So I turned around and politely asked him if he was indeed who we call "Hank". He said "yes" and we had a nice chat.

I barely noticed his girl friend Emma Andersson, who apparently has a pretty big following. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1497774/bio

She was friendly and didn't seem insulted by the slight.:)
I wished him good luck in the playoffs.

I've met Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman and Hank--not bad. :)

Glad I didn't ride on the trainer today. Thanks for putting up with my star-struckitis.

Tell us the truth, did you recognize him or his girlfriend first?

I wouldn't have recognized him without the helmet on...

It was a bit sketchy, 'cuz it is a VERY quiet road, which cuts in the middle of a private golf course. They were in the right hand lane, sort of taking 70% of the lane, so I was concerned about giving them a wide berth and checking for any cars behind me.

TRUTH: I never HEARD of his girlfirend until I went looking for a link to show you guys who he is. Wilkipedia lists her in the personal bio so I clicked on it wondering if that was who was with him.

When I told my wife the story, she asked me what his girlfiriend like, I said "nice, friendly, nothing special". OOPS!

They both had knit caps pulled low and the same part of his face that shows when he wears a helmet was showing. I probably watch 90% of their games, so I SHOULD know what he looks like. I always tell my wife that he looks like Jared Leto.
