I've been working on making sushi as of late, made myself a knife and a table with glass holders for the fish and a little box for the nori and I got a rice maker... So I asked a friend what kind of fish he wanted, expecting salmon or tuna or red snapper of something like that. He said "gefilte". Oy!

The presentation is very attractive and colorful.
Never had the stuff, so I can't comment on flavor.

I've had the stuff - it's actually pretty good :)

I'm part-Asian, so I do love my sushi.

As for gefilte fish: Back in the 90's, I was with a girlfriend who was from NYC and Jewish. She introduced me to Manhattan deli's that served gefilte fish and matzah balls. Oi! Loved it!

Thanks for the pic, good plating and presentation :)

OK - I thought I knew the lingo, but what does "MP" mean (I know it's gotta be bad)?

Thanks and regards.

Some of the best sushi I ever tasted was up in LA, california when I visited Tom Byrnes-pal several years ago. It was a very special treat. I missed my pal in CA.

Yep, Ratners used to serve a nice piece of gefilte fish -- maybe not quite like mom's, or mine these days, but very good. The jar full o' mannywhatsis, not so much.

I wish I could remember some of the names/locations of those diners my gf treated to me back then in Manhattan. I know she was watching me pretty closely for my reaction as I was eating - luckily, it was all great to me, so I stayed in her good books for a while!

I guess with enough sake you could eat that. I'd stick to the horseradish.
