I have a $150.00 gift certificate for my birthday and want to get a short sleeve jersey that I'd normally not purchase. Yes I'd prefer $150.00 worth of EPO, or for Kristen, but as it is, what jersey would you get?

Where is the gift certificate from?

If I could get a jersey from anywhere I would get this new jersey from Rapha.

2d on the vote for Rapha; they are about to become a sickness for me after trying an article of theirs. I have the blue jersey above coming in the mail ironically..

I would look for a framed and signed jersey to hang on my wall (or a picture of someone in a bike jersey to frame). I have a hard time paying half that for a jersey. The inflation of the 90's in bike stuff just will not sink into my old (43) mind. $200 for handlebars? $120 stems? can't do it.
I guess a nice long-sleeved woolie might be ok. or something where part of the profits go to a good cause....

Capo Forma kit w/bibs and matching jersey. $150 won't get all of it but sure will make a big dent. :)

Or there are other retro wool jerseys:

Certainly much more  than an assos or some other overpriced racer-boy jersey.

/\/\ fiamme_red, the safety pins are to allow the wearer to opt for the 1988 replica race number or not. Do you like the pink jersey? It's pretty sharp-looking!

Torn. I am. Between the retro Andy jersey or the sweet, everydayish, modern Assos Uno jersey.

Assos quality is first rate, no doubt about it. Have several, including the Uno - you can't go wrong. However, the last couple of years, I prefer Rapha over Assos.

The retro Andy jersey from Rapha is based on the same cut & material as their Club jersey. Quality is as good as Assos, and I prefer the material (wool/poly blend) over the Assos. Doesn't get clammy, great breathability.

If it doesn't have to be the Andy jersey, the Rapha Sportwool jersey, with the full zip and accompanying arm warmers, gives you an even greater temperature range than the Club-style jerseys.

Campy Sportswear for this year looks really fabulous. The C803 Heritage Jersey in Sky is pretty sweet. The Campagnolo Logo is actually "flocked" (like they used to do) but the technical fabric of the entire collection is this year's best kept secret!!! The C803 is $110 bucks.

The idea (http://www.rapha.cc/index.php?page=433) of pinning a "collectors race number '172'" (complete with safety pins for attachment) to a commemorative jersey (not even a replica 7-Eleven jersey) is utterly absurd.

If you really want to wear the same jersey that Andy wore, this one (http://www.prendas.co.uk/details.asp?typ=typ&fkid=2&ID=1645) is a replica (not a commemorative jersey like the Rapha) and costs a lot less:

bling du jour

so in French, bling is "bling"?

I would take the commemorative race number and pins and mount it inside a matted frame and hang it in my office as a cool conversation piece.
The tres-cool pink jersey would be enjoyed on the bike. That historic victory is a great page of American cycling history! :)
