Any tricks on how to remove the clear plastic chain stay protector the one on my wifes bike is so dirty and has dirt wedged up under the seams just want to get a new one if anyone knows how to get on off with out messing up a paint job let me know. thanks :confused:

Have you tried gently heating it up a bit with a hair dryer? Perhaps that would allow you to get a fingernail or blade underneath one corner of it so it can be peeled off.

Try one of the citrus based degreaser type products like 'goo gone'

Don't use anything metal to scrape at it, maybe just something hard plastic,
and the paint will be fine. Sometimes it takes a little soaking, but i've found
that stuff works great.

I've also had luck with a gentle solvent - Naptha, that will get the grease out from under the edges while leaving the other adhesive intact. This is on a 12 year old, well used CSi.

Another trick that often works is using olive oil and the edge of a plastic credit card as a gentle scraper. Others have mentioned success with Goo-Gone on the past.
