I'm 48 and have two kids the OP's age (19 and 20). If his folks are younger than 45, they had kids pretty early. We had 'em earlier than most of our friends and I'm at least three years older than his folks it sounds like.

My older daughter is a bike commuter to her college and her job. My younger daughter wouldn't touch a bicycle if it looked like Brad Pitt.

What is amazing about the poll is that there are 17 of us thus far who are in the 56-100 category who actually picked out the correct category and voted there.

Why is it that you voted in the under 25 category? You actually think that you are under 25? You want to be under 25? You are so old that you figured if you voted in any category it would be quite an accomplishment?? :)

Funny. I have already surpassed many much older than me in their bike collections and after purchasing a few of Jack's bikes I have surpassed my dad. I guess I will have to get him something "special" for his big 50 in a year. He sure is getting really jealous about my bikes now. Funny thing is they are all about 1-2 cm too short in the tt and he tries to ride a few anyways. Oh and every time I buy a new one I just tell him it is my mid-youth crisis.

My first "10 speed" was a 1972 Raleigh Grand Prix. It had Simplex Prestige dérailleurs as Shimano was not much of a presence back then. I remember getting a Shimano Crane RD when it came out as it was touted as being as good as the expensive $35 Campy part! Mafac brakes, Weinman rims, Lyotard pedals, ah those were the days.
