View Full Version : Did Ritchey change the shape of the Classic Handlebars?

I've been using the Ritchey Classic Handlebars for a couple of years and love the round shape. Recently, I bought another set for a new bike, and I have discovered that they are bent differently from the ones I have been riding.

It seems that the reach is longer, and the drop is shallower. Could that be right? Did Ritchey make two different styles (ala Deda's shallow and deep drop bars)?

I think I prefer the older style. I'm kind of bummed to discover this after the fact. The ergos are already mounted and the bar is taped. Guess I'll learn to like it.

ritchey made and italian style bar that was 75 reach and 135 drop.
there was also an 85 reach with a 144-ish drop that would be considered a belgium bar without leffe on tap :beer:

I thought the former was the 26mm clamp and the latter was the 31.8mm clamp. Is that correct?

I thought it was for both 26 and 31.
Just looking at the website and it shows 84 reach with 135 only. :crap:

Yeah, I called Ritchey and they told me the same thing. My old bar had a 75mm reach. The new one has the longer reach, as you describe. Also, the deep drop has been discontinued because of lack of sales. Too bad.

If you're looking for a discontinued model Ritchey bar, why not visit eBay? They're sure to turn up sooner or later.

you can closely approximate the old Ritchey bend with the shallow drop Oval concepts bar. The difference is in the sweep. The Ritchey has a more gradual bend on the top section. That atmo guy at one time stocked them.
