View Full Version : I'm new, I don't know what to do

I've noticed that many of you seem to be life-long friends, maybe one day I'll get to that stage here too. I've been to a number of forums, and in my mind this one definitely takes the cake.

The only problem is, I don't speak the ling-edy. Can someone please explain the...

atmo
rollermo
flatmo
"what's up with the mo"mo
?

I'm sure the explanation is simple enough, and it would clarify SO much for me.
Thanks all and happy riding

Oh wait, Darren already said "beermo".....

mo is always better, no?

It's kinda like pig-Latin. Just add mo to everything to sound extra smart, hip, foppish, childish, ridiclous, and MP all at oncemo.

Also, many us us only pretend to be friends. Also, I'm not a real penguinmo.

In any event, welcome. This place is cool.

erector, welcome to the forums. Your posts are well-considered and a pleasure to read. We're certainly looking forward to more of them.
As you've discovered, the 'mo technique is simply forumites appending those two letters to each word in their posts.

Welcome and thank you for asking the question about "mo" because I'm new also. I asked about imho (in my humblest opinion) the other day but neglected to ask about "mo"

P.S. adding a banana man seems to make everything better, just like "mo"

note that the forum software debits yr checking account by $.50 for each use of mo.
this money goes to e-richie who owns the rights to those 2 letters used in conjunction.

even the use of moron ( very common useage here ) kicks in the fee so understand and be careful.

A belated welcome to the lunatic fringe. When you engage in a simple conversation with another human being outside of this forum and add "mo" to a simple phrase like "What's newmo with youmo?", you'll know that you have crossed over.

As the Rastafari worshipped Haile Sellasie, so do some with Satchmo.

Just smile and nod like you're talking to the town drunk who is explaining his last alien abduction and you'll be fine. One day you'll find yourself using the same terms he used...and you'll know you've been assimilated.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum! There is plenty of room down here at my end of the table. As far as the secret hand shakes go, don't sweat it. They are really more of a "reach around" than a hand shake so they tend to get a little messy.

Origins of atmo (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpost.php?p=172905&postcount=78).

As far as the "mo" suffix; Meh, atmo...

erector, there was a fad here a few months ago of posting messages in binary code. Others times people post in enormous bold font. You'll see these changes every now and again.
The majority stick to regular day-to-day words and typical fonts. Hopefully you'll find it all fun.

Oh...On the what to do...

Tell us about your bikes! Include sizes and if you keep them in your unlocked garage. I'm sure you've also already noted the requirement to take a bad pic of your bike in front of a white garage door...

And if there's a Serotta forum gathering of sorts in your neighborhood, crash the party! Then you'll meet a few of the regular suspects and you'll feel a bit more comfortable...

Except maybe with Lifelover...that whole reacharound thing...yeah...avoid that.

My main ride in urban scorcher mode. Had it for like 8 years and have put unknown tens of thousands of miles on it. It's got an Ideale saddle now and I'm usually riding drops.

Building up a internal 8 speed with dyno front hub this year for distance riding and a "regular" road bike as soon as the budget allows. Roadie/xcross background.

Once you get you Serotta forum membership card you get the following.

A list of forum owners with "severe bike acquisition syndrome" who ride your size bike.
You're required to purchase bikes from them to help them maintain
their mental equilibrium and domestic harmony.

A icon triptych consisting of Dave Kirk, Richard Sachs and Dario Pegoretti,
suitable for veneration. The correct beeswax candles are available
from Rivendell.

The forum compliance team visits your house and removes all
bike mirrors and clincher tires.

Apropos nothing, there is a local construction outfit in St Louis with the following in bold letters on the sides of their trucks: "Big Boys Steel Erection"

I am totally serious. DD88 Jimi T can confirm this. (That the trucks exist.)

I'm assuming that this is a local joke. I'll get hipmo some day...

Funny thing is that at 130, that stem is actually too short for those bars. The bars were always hitting my legs when I turned. I'm a drop bar lover usually.
