I've added a carbon ride to my stable and really like the bike for a variety of reasons e.g. comfort, acceleration, road feel, climbing. I am considering carbon cages but would like to hear peoples opinions - besides the bling factor is there any other reason to consider shelling out $100+ bucks for 2 water bottle cages?

Bad idea IMO- A guy in my neck of the woods had one snap off and his bottle flew in his front wheel- crashed him really hard. He got a lawyer and sued the MFG.
Spend that dough on a King Ti cage and you will never lust for other cages again.

I've broken a few.
It always happens in mile 60-80 of a hard ride, when I am tired and my bottle is usually a little sticky.
It was always the cage on the seattube.
I manage to cram the bottle in the cage and break the little tab on the bottom that keeps the bottle from sliding.

I got tired of shelling out all the $$$ for it and bought a Ti cage for the seat tube. I figured I'd get a Ti cage for the down tube when I broke that one, but I haven't broken it yet (I guess I don't directly force the bottle in that one).

Now I have missmatched bottle cages.
But the good thing is that I can pick the whole bike up by the Ti cage and it weighs about the same as the carbon ones.
Ti rocks.

I too bought a carbon bike and thought that I sort of "had to" put carbon cages on it. Maybe it's me, but I just don't like the look of most carbon cages. They seemed to work fine, but I ended up going back to King cages, and am glad I did.
