It's remarkable how much more feminine she looks now. That alone is pretty damning.

Edward is a first name, Edwards is not.

If a woman's last name is a man's first name, does it count as 2 first names? (maybe in Tammie Thomas' case it does regardless?)

You also have to watch out for people with a first intial and a middle name - e.g. F. Lee Bailey, J. Edgar Hoover, as well as people with no first names.

It's remarkable how much more feminine she looks now. That alone is pretty damning.

When alleged criminals go to court, they always clean up and dress nice to persuade the judge and jury they couldn't have done it. In her case, should she have cleaned up her dress but maintained her prior physical characteristics?

If she lied to the grand jury, that's dumb and she's getting what she asked for. OTOH, professional athletes using illegal PEDs is penny ante crime compared to practically anything else the prosecutor could have been investigating.

Maybe we need to emphasize the Fifth Amendment more in the schools.

my doc says he's got a practice full of aging athletes who went to the dark side and now that they're in their 40s.. are having things go wobbly on em.

caught or not... you can't outrun consequences.. bones get brittle, cancers like stuff that fosters growth, renal systems are sensitive, and the brain is a fragile little cat.

i just sort of feel for the ones that were to young to know better and have to pay the toll while they've still got thirty years of living left...
which is why i think we've got to make it hard on the cats that get caught...

its just not worth it... or its worth it for a minute but that minute is gone so fast...

Breaks my heart.

The prosecution is using the change of her appearance as part of their case. It's amazing how much it's changed.

. . . considering her appearance as part of this case. I will not make any cute remarks, just observe that her photos from her racing days when she was "not" using steroids show us someone with an undeniable masculine look--the hallmark of heavy steroid use. She can deny all she wants, but the photos are pretty damning. I think she's gonna be going up the river to the Big House for a while.

I don't really think a "masculine" look is the hallmark of steroid use. Look at all the other women in professional sports that were using. I don't think Marion Jones was ever accused of looking manly. I submit that the most damning part of those photos is the fact that she's not wearing make up in one shot, and she's wearing a skirt in the other.

What's the lesson to be learned, if you're a woman and you're using, you might want to look as much like a lady as you can.

Gender is a pretty slippery subject.

it's like two of them cancel each other out and you're then left with the one.

oh hold it...

OMFG, based on just a before/after photo, a jury of 12 would send her packing.

The before photo is effin disgusting AND sadmo. The irony is she was hawking her Lemond (Mr. Clean) bike.

Her future career is at stake, since she's studying law at University of Oklahoma, and she wouldn't be admitted to the bar with a conviction for lying to a grand jury or obstruction of justice.

It would be interesting to see what they say if they were asked the same question again when they are in their 40's & 50's.

"Was it worth it?"
