My 10 yr old Blackburn Magnetic Trackstand is pretty quiet - I can watch the news at a normal volume on it.

I've got a Nashbar fluid trainer that's pretty quiet and pretty cheap. Performance carries the same thing under a different model name... I think they're made by Elite, but don't hold me to that.

My nashbar/performance/elite fluid trainer is pretty quiet. And it feels pretty good. Mine has a spring that engages the wheel, rather than a screw down thingy. I like it.

My wife has a Minoura Mag 500 that was cheap and is soooo quiet compared to my CycleOps (mag as well).I don't have enough volume to watch anything but action movies or sports. If dialogue is important I can't watch and ride :(

In other words, I'm curious about people's trainer thoughts as well.

DK is correct though. I usually opt for the push-up/ ab / yoga workout when quit is important...sometimes I can I steal my wife's trainer.

get outside.I already told you. Screws up my mornings. It will be three weeks until it's light enough for a ride before work.

...The CycleOps Fluid is pretty quiet. Mine's not for sale. Sorry.

+1 on this one.

Mine is a few years old and after about 5,000 miles,, the bearings need to be replaced. However, the fluid resistance part of the unit 'appears' to work as good as new. I, too, like the spring-loaded rear wheel tension, as mentioned by another poster.

Yes, i like to be outside this time of year, too, but it might be a good time to pick up a bargain.

I would need to see pictures first. Going by your avatar, I'm not sure I'm in the market for a blow-up _penguin_ doll.
