Anyone have any experience with the SRAM derailers and shifting with friction shifters? I am really wondering about the RD, with their 2 spring design. It seems like there may be too much tension required to allow it to work well with friction shifters, but I have never even seen one. I continue to enjoy shifting with friction with 9 speeds (not so much with 10) with either campy or shimano stuff. Just was wondering if I have even another option for derailers in silver (not that I really need one though)
any thoughts?
cheers,
ted.

Sram derailleurs have 1:1 cable pull ratio,
so i can't imagine a lever available that would make the
rear derailleur move enough to work with a DT or Bar end
lever designed for 1:2 ratio.

If what I've read is accurate, the SRAM road RD needs about 4.5mm of cable pull per shift. That would be a total of 40.5mm for 9 shifts. A Campy shifter pulls about 2.9mm per shift on the average, but the amount is not the same for all shifts. The total is 1.02 inch or 25.9mm, as close as I could measure. That's way short of the SRAM RD's needs.
Could you use Jtek to compensate??

I think I have my answer - use the shiny campy or shimano bits and be happy.

One can always be happy with shiny Campag bits.
