Anyone tried a set of these? Looking for a cheap set of 'flatland' wheels and this price seems about as good as it gets. http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=&subcategory=&brand=60001317&sku=23126&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Brand%3A%20Mavic%20Inc%2E

They're "Aksiums", actually. I've thought about getting a set for my Axiom. And then throwing the bike, with the wheels, in the back of this:

...but it's just not that good a joke.

I've had a set of the entry-level Mavic Cosmos wheels for about five years. They've been completely reliable and comfortable wheels. About the only negative thing I can say is they're a bit heavy. They're my rain/messy wheels now.

The Aksium's replaced these in their line-up. I bet they're exactly what you're looking for. For that price, grab 'em!

Thanks. These silly little fingers sometimes will have a mind of their own when typing.

Based on the cost and bullet-proof reliability of the Ksyrium Elite wheels, I bought two (2) sets. One will get my trainer tires (an original Armadillo that has an amazing amount of rubber still left on it after 10 years - must have a high iron content :p ). The other set will get a pair of 28c tires for the flatland out here. Plenty of rubble on our roads.

I bought a set for my son's bike. He's got about 2000 miles on them and they're as true today as they were when we put them on the bike.

I think they're a great value.

I just ordered a pair for my son's bike from Hi-Tech Bikes in San Diego. They are on close-out there for $160.99, but they only have black left. They also have free shipping.........good deal.

My buddy got a set to replace some Open Sports that were probably not built right. He rode them all last summer with no problems. I think you will find they are a good set for the price.

Its a basic wheel. They ride fine. You'd be better of if you can find a used pair of Ksyrium SL's or some old classics pros or a nice ultegra level hub built into an open pro rim 32 holes.

Just my opinion...

Good wheels at a great price; Nashbar coupon code w240 (expires 6 Mar 08)takes another10% off and makes it an even better value. I'd certainly get 'em but already have a couple of spare wheels...

Thanks for the coupon code. Just called them up and they knocked the 10% off. Free shipping plus $4.89 to spend any way I want. Gotta luv Nashbar sales and customer service.
