So i had some extra time at work and decided to take a look at the financials for a few cycling companies. Just taking a look at the publicly traded ones (there arent many) In particular I was looking at Dorel (pacific cycles), shimano and giant manufacturing.

I was just looking at net income as a measure (not exactly thorough, but i'm not a financial analyst either)

Shimano had a horrible year in 2006 but bounced back in 2007
dorel - not doing so well, (declining income)
Giant - huge year in 2007 so far (only had through 6/2007)
does anyone know why Giant is having such a marquee year? It seems out of the ordinary looking at their history. Was there a boom in bike purchases, new factories opened, aquisition? Seems odd that in a period of what looks like kind of stagnant income for shimano and dorel, giant is having such a great year. I mean their 6 month net income was almost 90% of their entire 2006 net income.
Just wondering if anyone has some further insight on this.
