Thanks!

yes. c50, extreme power, extreme c. forever unless you're on a pro-team and even then you need to convince ernesto you need it. they won't just do "custom"....you need to make a strong case that what you require is a colnago style racinging bicycle and that your needs can not be met by one of their stock offerings.

I don't think you can do custom geo.

There is made-to-measure, as in "ernesto picks a top tube length",
but changing the angles to suit? won't happenmo atmo.

Custom paint, yesmo to that too.

i just spoke with the boys in somerville

they're sitting on a pile of 953 tubes and laughing their asses off at all the frustrated customers

or maybe not - they don't actually MAKE the 953 stuff, see - they just WELD it

when they can get it

custom means you give ernesto your measurements and he decides the outcome

you get to decide the color

if you're nice to ernesto

Does any one know if the new Saronni Master XL is in stock at the distributor and if any Prescia forks are chromed and threaded? Are these 1" steerers? ('Cause then one might find a NOS threaded Prescia to match...) Just thinking.

Hi;

Yup, 1" steerers. I have an 2008 Master XL, in the solid red (PRO7 paint) rather than the Saronni Goodwood paint, but it's the same frame. I asked for a chromed, 1", threadless, but they delivered a carbon instead :(

The NOS Bike Shop listings on eBay has NOS Prescia forks, I believe.

Doug, I called cbike in Chicago about a month ago and was told the Colnago extralight in the Saronni colors was sold out in the first run. However, they were taking orders (and deposits) for a second run to arrive on our shores in the spring sometime. Don't know about the forks.

custom means you give ernesto your measurements and he decides the outcome

you get to decide the color

to adapt for accuracy.

ernesto reads yr measurements and then sends you what he has in stock.

he then takes the time to convince you that the bike he sent you is the color you wanted despite that to you it may not look like what you envisioned.

e " no, it's blue"
you " i ordered red"
e " look at it in the sun it's reddish blue"
you " its not"
e "it is at this latitude, you're too far north. your fault"

to further adapt....I think that the above process apllies to the CARBON Colnagos....
I have to assume that most of the steel ones are customs....because no two have the same geometry.....

The power of the forum. If you complain about something, it will turn in to a thread, and then the said problem will be resolved.

I put my name in for a custom C40 back in late 97. Didn't get it til 99. I asked for pearl white and some custom numbers. Did not know what I was doing then with road bikes.

Anyway got the bike. It's pearl white with blue highlights, similar but not equal to AD10 for those you know. Nothing like what I imagined or asked for, but stunning. The bike is a standard Nago 58 as far as I can tell.

I'm kind of glad that they saw my foolishness and just gave me a proper bike. Still one of my favorite ride of all time. I didn't get what I asked for but something better in my mind. I guess they will build you a custom as long as it fits their sensibility, style, and convenience.
