Setting up the stoker position on my tandem for my 4 y.o/ 6 y.o kids, and am looking for a kid friendly handlebar with a 26. clamp. the salsa moto ace is the narrowest bar i've found @36 cm c-c- anyone have suggestions for something narrower? thanks :)

36cm should be narrow enough.

Otherwise, a straight bar or riser bar makes sense.
A lot depends on the set up, and how close you're try
to get the bars to the saddle.

Nitto makes their 153 bar in 34cm. Let me know if you need help finding one.

My daughter was 8 years old when she and I started riding our tandem. I put on the crank shorteners and she tended to sit more upright -- never on the drops. If you're buying a drop bar, get one that will clear YOUR hips. The kids will likely be only on the flat part of the bar, anyway. Just be sure to get an extendable, adjustable stoker stem. Then you can custom fit the reach for each of the little ones.

Stick a waterbottle in your middle back pocket. They won't have to reach down to get a drink. :D

It's a fun time. Good luck.
