Now that the dust has settled a bit, just how far would you go......

via an airplane is pretty easy to go anywhere

driving... not more than 6 hours

/\/\ Same sentiment as DarrenCT. Anywhere in the United States via airplane and around 6-8 hours of driving.

If it were in my town and there was nothing good on TV, I might go.

Either I just like to ride or I can't stand looking at stuff I can't afford or don't want to wait year for, or I'm trying to get banned from the Serotta forum...

I've been fortunate enough to be within fairly easy traveling distance for the last 3 years. I might fly somewhere if it was inexpensive and a short flight only if the location had something else to offer - good weather and an opportunity to ride, friends to visit, etc. It would have to be coupled with other personal activities.

Southwest flies to "Indy a No Place" IN, so I am there. Don't mess with the plan already. Seriously there could have been worse choices then Indy for NAHBS so I will take it.

I drove 22 hours last year to San Jose. This year it was a short drive of 12 hours.

Next year it's a short flight. See you there.

I dunno really. I'm sure I'd enjoy it, even if I've never been so I'm just guessing really. If the kids were grown and off at college or something, I might be pleased to make a weekend of it. Depending on the weekend or the locale, I might go for more or less of a stretch. If I were retired, I might well be glad to make a real road trip (or even plane trip) out of it.

As it happens, I'm a public servant with 2.5 weeks of vacation per year and three little kids at home ... so, maybe a couple of hours -- out and back in one day -- tops.

It's nothing to do with the show and I have no criticism of next year's site or last year's either. It's just about my own constraints.

Wherever Sachs, Kirk, White, Desalvo Etc decide to go, I'll be there. I'll be there because of two things, these guys mentioned and the forum folks I meet.

I don't see that much diference between a 3 hour flight and a 6 hour drive. if it lands in austin, I'm there. great town, great food.

I'll drive up to 10-12 hours, otherwise I'll fly.

Which means I'll drive to anything this side of the Rockies and fly to the rest.

Flew in from Toronto Canada for the 06 edition in SJ. Struck speechless by the unpainted frames of Mr. Sachs, the welds of IF and the Vanilla trike. Enjoyed talking to Mr. Ferris of Anvil.

Best 4 hour flight I ever took.

I live in Oakland and went to the show both years it was in San Jose (~45 miles). I'd go if it were in Monterey (115 miles). I didn't go to Portland and wouldn't go to Indianapolis or points on the East Coast unless the show is in Boston or Milwaukee, where I have family. The show is wonderful eye candy and all, but to me it's not worth it to travel so far or so long to see what I've seen already.

[QUOTE=MarleyMon]NAHBS 2009 will be held in Indianapolis, February 27 - March 1.

Thank you for the information. :) Indianopolis is three hours away from my hometown Chicago. I will be driving there this May for Indianapolis Mini Marathon (13.1 miles) .
