Dunkin' Donuts makes an awful good Apple Fritter. The fact that they are not available in Switzerland might have something to do with the fact that I weighed less when I actually lived here instead of visited here...... :D

If he had a really stiff headwind on the 5 mile ride he could even pick a couple extras cause he worked so hard getting there.

Butch,
If Gigi is riding with you, I would think that you would need 2 donuts for energy and a mini donut for Gigi.

Its good to read your messages again Butch!

Interesting that you should bring this up. I went to ride leader training on Saturday. One of the topics was reviewing all the various ride categories and also emphasizing that any kind of ride you wanted to come up would be encouraged.

One ride leader had come up with the donut shop ride. They went to five or six donut shops. Apparently it was a huge success. The 49-mile ride took 7 hours so they must have eaten many donuts.

Some places around here (Panera for one) are making Fagels (fake bagels) that rival donuts for taste and sweet tooth compliance. Don't count them out. They also have that healthy image that donuts covet.

if you eat French Crullers, you'll be slim and chic;
if you eat Bavarian Kremes, you'll be tall, blonde, and wholesome.

everyone knows that!

I've never really "burnt" a donut, i usually just dip them in coffee.
I have had a burnt donut before, but it was still delicious.

I'm not big on donuts, but a fresh hot Leonard's Malasada is really good.

Best way to describe it is a donut without the hole, deep fried and rolled in sugar. Apparently it is a Portagee thing. Only good when warm, though.

I used to LOVE the DD Boston Creme, and since there is a DD on every corner in the Northeast, it was a huge temptation that I frequently gave in to. But out here there are no good donuts to be had, so my addiction was easy to kick.

dude, tell me about it! That's funny, coming from a Californian. . .When they first made it out her a few years ago you had to wait in line forever to get one. Now that they have opened a few and closed some too the novelty is gone. They are still good though.I try to stay away since they feed you while you are waiting and try and talk me out of half a dozen because a dozen are cheaper. They are like drug pushers. :beer:
