clamp on to braze on ?

Apologies if this is has been covered, but is it possible to convert a shimano clamp on front der. to a braze-on ? Ive seen that the various clamp sizes are interchangeable ...would rather avoid buying a whole new der. if possible.

theres good and bad news. good news, Yes you can convert a clamp on to a braze-on. Bad news is that Shimano doesn't list that part. So unless you buy a braze-on and switch it to the clamp on your never going to be able to order just that part. so you go to eBay buy the braze-on and sell the clamp on, hopefully you won't lose to much money in the transaction.

I think what the OP is asking is can a Shimano dérailleur that is a clamp-on be converted or changed into a braze-on dérailleur. My answer would be no. A separate braze-on dérailleur, along with the appropriate size clamp will be necessary. If the braze-on dérailleur is needed on another bike with a different sized seat tube, he can purchase just the correct size clamp.
