View Full Version : What is on Brajkovic's TT bar?
Anyone else notice the "things" on the base bar in this photo? Any ideas what they are?

let's take up a collection and buy the boy some biceps, ok?
My first thought was the bad old days when we would stick chunks of PowerBar to our bikes.. Doubt that is the case for a 3K tt though!
Yea, he isn't hauling any extra muscle mass around!

Mebbe it's a stealth wireless shifter button for the new electronic mechs coming down the pike. Might run on a single watch battery. Looks perfectly placed for shifting on the tops. :D

Yeah, they certainly look like brake pads.
And yeah, I can't figure out why the heck they'd be there...
Maybe something to do with the airflow around the riders frontal area?

looks to me like bontrager cork brake pads... like maybe the mechanic stuck them there to remember to put them in with the wheels change from alum rims to carbon... but didn't get to it.
i dunno..
or its the kid's daily ration of food.
i'm clueless on it.

. . . but they don't seem to be nearly large enough to re-direct enough airflow to make a difference.

they had to add weight somewhere...the kid AND the bike combined do not make UCI weight limits.
when we were partying down at the ToG last spring...he came up and put his arm over my shoulder and i did the same to him and i thought i was going to break him in half!
I will ask the Cervelo wizards next week at BrainBike. Hopefully they or the San Diego wind tunnel guys will know.. That area is too aerodynamic for it to be accidental..
I will post whatever I find out.

Alternate attachment spots for the arm rests, maybe for longer tt's?

Squirrel repellent.
Boston,
That was one of my ideas as well; probably the most likely at this point. Certainly Astana was not expecting a prologue win from this guy so something experimental is likely..

I was looking elsewhere for something else
on giro.com (screengrab since their site is one honking flash file  )

looks like they are alternative elbow pad supports for tunnel testing (not ridable).

My guess was going to be mounts for wider/lower forearm rests to account for races of different duration or to somehow assist his breathing capability.

I'm going to keep this photo for when people tell me I'm too skinny.
And now that I look at it again, I'm going to eat a box of Girl Scout Cookies the instant I get home from work today.
