With the wealth of knowledge available here, I thought I might find an answer.

I bought a gold coin in Saudi Arabia when I was on vacation there in 1990-1991. I was also able to see portions of Kuwait and Iraq.

It weighs about 50 grams, has King Fahd(maybe) on the face and the royal palace on the back.

Does anyone have a clue about it? I haven't been able to find any coin like in the webs.

Thanks,

My father is a numismatists and I asked him about it, but doesn't have any experience with foreign coins. Sorry. It should be worth at least its weight in gold which is pretty darn good these days.

I have done a bit of collecting of US coins. Generally, modern gold coins are not worth more than their bullion value, unless they are part of a rare limited edition run, or have some historical value that can be documented. For example, if it was given as a gift from a Saudi prince. At its bullion value, 50g = 1.76 ounces of gold x $910 per ounce = $1,601, depending on its purity. Of course, selling it at that price is the real challenge.
