What does it mean? What is one paying for when one decide to go for the tubing "upgrade"?

More carbon in the steel? Stiffer yet more vertically compliant?

It could be more super than even super light, or in other cases it could be shaped super light. Both ways to increase compliance, decrease weight, make you sexier, etc.

Stay away from HCTFL- holy crap thats f'n light.

More carbon in the steel? Stiffer yet more vertically compliant?Sounds like an oxymoron.
Doesn’t stiffer mean stiffer?

Yes and no. It is an oxy moron.

But the comment is really a shot at the cliched bike reviews found in many major bike publications when they run out of ways to describe "new hotness".

P.S.- I guess I wont ever find out my answer until I place a deposit with a builder for a bike.

Acotts, everything I’ve ever read says that all steels have pretty much the same amount of stiffness.

Differences must be due to the size of the tubes, and that should be obtainable from the builder.
