Thinking about taking a trip to Big Bend National Park next month for hiking and maybe road biking. Any experiences or comments on the Park?

one of my favorite places. great hiking. i would avoid march......too many scout groups on spring break. last time i went it was Feb..........mid 20s at night , high in the mid 60s. camped in the Chisos Basin....chili at night, but close to some of the most popular trails. if you must have civilization try the Gage Hotel in Marathon & it's storied bar. http://www.gagehotel.com/index.html

i love that part of west Texas.........i would also check out the McDonald Observatory while you are out west. http://mcdonaldobservatory.org/

I have ridden twice in the annual Fort Davis ride in September. The ride through the 75-mile scenic loop is by far the best ride in Texas. Extraordinary mountain views, challenging climbs, zero traffic, very well-supported.
