Why include the broken fork in the deal? Does he think that it will increase the price? More than likely to raise questions about the condition of the frame.

We can always have Avispa go by and check out the bike to see if the guy is for real.

Edit: The guy's eBay feedback looks good, maybe he just doesn't know anything about bikes.

I think it is a 2002 Lemond Buenos Aries with Serotta stickers on it. Did Serotta ever make bikes using 835 steel.

If the frame is straight, then paying $400 for a frame and a build kit, less the fork, seems to be a better price than over $1000 for an older CDA with a (probably) replacement fork referenced in a prior posts as generally a fair to middling deal.

Excellent question. I was thinking about that. I jus asked Smiley and that refreshed my memory. He said that Serotta had a steel classique model built with 853 steel. I remember that model now. They also had a classique ti model at the same time. Neither were around for very long. I have been around for a lot loooooooooooooooooooonger time.

Did some putz chop off the fork blade with a bolt cutter to steal the bike, not knowing about the quick release?

An' 2: maybe the seller thinks someone can repair the fork what with using an old lawn chair leg with some epoxy.

Could work.

i sold it in 2006, it was very nice. it was 853 steel s-bends stays. I think it was just the entry model using more stock tubing than their proprietary colorado concept stuff.
in fact i asked about here on the forum as i had trouble finding much info.

It looks like the bike is being parted out now.
Isn't this the frame?

that first one is definately a serotta frame. IT was the classique, you can tell by the old 3d dropouts (not the 3d xl on the newish frames) that went away in 2000ish and also the sexy chainstays. THose jump out at you like gandalf standing nexting hobbits.

MarleyMon,

You are exactly right he is parting it out; curious how much more he gets for the sum of the parts. LOL
