I am intriged by this squirrel reanimation kit. How far gone can the little rodent be? There's a three-day-old specimen on my commute...

Glad you're feeling better. I still think "Spurts of Pain" would make a good name for a (bad) band.

Note this intelligence photo I just aquired. The re-animated rodents playing poker. You can tell they're re-animated by the "thousand yard stare".

is that really a .50 cal?

no gunpowder involved, my .177 (precision) air gun does a spectacular job on 'em.

i can play sniper off my semi-rural deck. try that with your BMG!

How much is that re-amination kit, anyhoo?

Me, I take Frankie the owl on my evening rides. He takes care of the Squirrels for me.

[side note: in college I was walking with a lady friend one late afternoon when a huge owl swooped between us, grabbed a squirrel, accellerated, then flung it into a wall. I could hear the crunch from 20 yards away. The lady friend was very disturbed by the site of the smashed squirrel. I went to check it out when owl came screecthing past me and scooped up the little rat and flew off. It was one of the cooler things I have seen in my day. I did not know that Owls were such handy predetors.]

/\/\ Not to mention owls are sometimes bigger than one would expect! I saw one fly over me ten years ago while riding in a nature preserve and I was stunned at the enormous wingspan. Beautiful.

Just thought I would let you know that the movement is growing. Too many cyclists have been laid out by kamakazi squirrels and want to fight back. Here's a photo of SteveP's nephew who's happily taken out many a rodent....

Way to go Jebbahdiah!!!!

On a lighter note, apprently some of the squirrels found out that I'm not quite at 100% yet and has challenged me to a fight (I think Sandy tipped them off but I can't prove it).

http://sportzfun.com/photos/albums/boxing/boxing_squirrel.jpg

The match will be televised on pay-per-view and all proceeds will go to the "Frag The Furry Bastids NOW!!!" organization.

Well, back to training in the Bunker somewhere on the William Back 40.

Over and out.

There is a Bald Eagle nest in my back yard about 200 feet from the house. I can't remember the last time I saw a squirrel. Our cat population is 2/3 of what it was when we moved in last summer. Too bad the eagles aren't nocturnal, it would take care of the frickin raccoons.

the frickin raccoons.

It must be a half-dozen nights this winter that I've been commuting home and observed a raccoon galumphing across the street up here in the city. They are not graceful animals in the open; big fat hot snacks for an eagle I'd wager. They don't bother me. The crows, on the other hand...

Had a hawk set up shop in my backyard tree one day last October. The crows and pigeons made themselves scarce. It was nice.

I once saw a rabbit run right into the wheel of a guy about 3 feet in front of me. It bounced off of the spokes pretty cleanly. There was a little bit of pucker on my part watching the whole thing happen, though.

These squirrels have gone too far. I was reading the other day about a terrorist squirrel attacking a 4-year old while he was eating a muffin. There is something wrong here.

I'm a live and let live kinda guy.

I trapped 14 of these flying squirrels in my attic in the past 2 weeks. They have now been relocated to the wilds of central PA. haven't caught any now in 2 nights. They probably will not be out gunning for any cyclists, since they are nocturnal!
