My first comment was that he looked like Charleton Heston.. Only missing was that he should have carried some tablets.

Im not a Tom Petty fan but thought he was one the best hafl-time superbowl shows ever. The game was great also.

I'm a sucker for Petty - always have been. He hasn't been about high energy since about 1980. Its all about the hooks with him. And he's still got plenty of 'em. And, oh yeah, a rather tight little combo, those Heartbreakers. Loved 'em tonight. Ratty old Mike Campbell playing the sweetest leads...

Dude, a gutsy post indeed atmo. It took a lot of courage and conviction to say, "Prince rules, Purple Rain forever."

For PDXmech13mo, put Prince's head onto the torso, it fitsmo:

I was just commenting how fantastic Prince was during last year's halftime show. Definitely a musical genius.

He wasn't careful enough covering his lip synch'n mouth with the microphone.

He's 58 years old--looks 10 years older--and has spent his life living on buses and in motels and probably eating awful food, not to mention the drugs and booze. I'm kinda surprised he can still find the microphone . . .

YUP!! :D

The first shot showing the guys in the rig I said to Mrs William, " That's an FJ...", then as they hit the side shot, "...60 series!!".

Saw Tom in concert about 20 years ago. Most of my friends bought tickets weeks in advance. The day of the concert I heard there were still tickets left so a couple of us bought them at the door. Our friends who bought the tickets weeks ago were up in the nose bleed section. We ended up just to the side of the stage where one of the wings of the stage jutted out. We ended up with Tom about 10 feet from us working his gee-tar for much of the concert.
I wouldn't call his show a lot of "energy" back then either. Rather I would call it a cool show from some guys who obviously enjoy playing, and playing good music. Two thumbs up from me.

Though, I would agree, he's aged a lot.

I thought it was OK. I don't expect big surprises from Petty.
I've seen them several times over 30 years and its always pretty straightforward. lots of hits. Had an experience similar to William - great seats on the day of show. Campbell is always a highlight.

Tix for his tour w/ Steve Winwood went on sale this AM.
$94.50 + $13.75 + $6.00 = $114.25 for one seat by the soundboard
at an outdoor "shed" w/ 13,000 reserved seats!
Yowww! Nostalgia is gettin' expensive! (or profitable, depending on your perspective.)

I enjoyed his performance. He played several of my favorites ("American Girl" being the highlight, atmo.) But yeah - I've seen him twice, once in the early '80s and once in the late '80s when the 'Mats opened for him. He's a workmanlike performer. I love a handful of his songs, like a lot, and am indifferent about the rest.

Overall, I'm glad he's still around. It's good to see guys with second (and third, etc.) acts in Rock and Roll.

Dude, I just need to know where to send the bill. Where and to whom can I send a bill for all of the creatively inane posts I've imprinted on the internet? Al Gore? Gates? Ben Franklin? Who? :D
