I bought a Tempurpedic. Leslie loves it and I think it's ok. I think it was around $2000. Our local Costco has some fine-looking Sealeys for less than $600. There is a LOT of markup in mattresses at most stores and the manufacturers help prevent comparison shopping by making "different" models for different retailers. You know under the coverings there is a lot of similarity but real info and specs are hard to find. It's hard to compare apples/apples in this market.

I have a Temperpedic knock off from macy's. my wife and I are very happy with it. With the memory foam mattresses box springs are not necessary. Sailorma

I recently purchased an organic Talay latex mattress that is by far the most comfortable and supportive I have owned. The maker is Natura, but I believe their are several other companies with similar products. I like that it is all natural with no chemical off-gassing, and the wool top keeps me from over heating. Good luck with your purchase.

i ended up buying a 6 inch queen size elsewhere, but spoke to these guys a number of times and thought they were straight shooters. think there's more than an average amount of hype, spin and bs in this industry. and even if you can lay on it in the showroom, like a bike, it may take a few miles to have it really sink in.

She may have been laughing a little too loud. Hmmm.

Anyone ever hear of or try out one of these...?

www.zerogravitybed.com

Appears to be a cross between a sleep number type system and tempur-pedic deal.

Very happy with the Select Comfort (http://www.selectcomfort.com) bed. Currently using a Model 7000 and loving it.

Another vote for tempur-pedic or similar memory foam type. I've had back issues my whole adult life and every mattress until this one made them worse. This didn't cure them, but I've never woken up feeling like the mattress made things worse. I've definitely felt like that with other mattresses. It's temperature dependent, so its a little firmer in the winter than the summer, at least when you first lie down. But it conforms to you based on your body heat, so within a few minutes it's the same any time of year.

Last month bought a new $800 Sealy. Seemed as good to me as the $2000 mattress next to it. Lay on a lot of em though, they all feel diff. Change your mattress at 10 years , so says the matress guy at Raymour and Flannigan.
