The NiMH battery for my ARC is, sadly due to lack of proper care, fading prematurely. A replacement lists for $199. Before I spend that, I figured I'd see if making my own replacement was an option. Anyone ever tried this? I figure I might build my own LED based light, following bikeled.org, before I shell out two bills just for a battery. Especially since the bulb will be blowing out at some point too.

Thanks,
Jim

Their Ebay store is actually less expensive and a great source for li ion packs.

Most any local Battery Store can rebuild those, usually cheaper than buying new.

I replaced a cell in one of my L&M NiMH packs a year or two ago; can't even remember where I bought the cell. It's do-able, if you're handy with a soldering iron. I don't have any personal experience with these people, but I've heard decent comments over the years for the Nicad Lady (http://www.nicdladyonline.com/) . I think they have an online quote form that might be worth checking out.

Yes. Easy to do if you're good with a soldering iron. Keep your connections as you'll need to re-use them.
