....Just doing some research on 2007 Campy cranks.
Has anyone tried the Mirage Ultratorque set?
What are the differences compared to Centaur or any in the Campy line
of components? I have never heard of Campy Mirage components.
Thanks.

Here is a very rough comparison. Mirage is fine. Just not as refined, light and nicely finished with all the light bits as the higher end parts. Chorus and DA used to be considered at the same level. However, with DA going 'up-scale', Chorus is sort of on its own.
Record = DA 10
Chorus > Ultegra, but < DA
Centaur = Ultegra
Veloce = 105
Mirage = Sora

I have a 2007 Mirage UT crank, compact, on the bike I use on my trainer.

It's very stiff, and its matte black finish with contrasting polished open center looks great... but the finish is not as durable as Record or Chorus. And the chainrings are not forged---as they are in the higher level cranks.

The weight is essentially the same as the higher level Centaur.

Overall, it's another Campy winner. Atmo.

I replaced the UT mirage crankset with a UT centaur on a friend's bike. Side by side, the crankarms are the same (except for the color). The difference was in the quality of the rings. The mirage had stamped rings with little finish and the centaur rings were of a much higher quality. The bearings and cups are identical up the line. I use a UT centaur on my race bike. If I was thinner I might consider carbon but for now it is a drop in the bucket.
