The Dutch Mullet rules it seems!! I wonder if this past year of results for Boom will forestall a full time move into the road scene. I know he won the U23 TT in Stuttgart, but with his talent, and the headstart he has, he could make a lucrative career for himself on the cross circuit.

Great result for Marco Fontana. I guess racing at home really pumped him up.

Thanks for posting the results immediately, Cees. Hey, that's what the Internet is for!

ps Does Boom have a strong future in road racing, too?

pps Does Boom have a nickname yet?

I'm confused. When is it being broadcast on the left side of the water?

I doubt you'll find it on TV.

how about boom boom boom?

those guys make a very, very good living at cross while working hard 1/2 the year. the races are only an hour but the intensity is very different from , say , a tour stage or flanders or something.

a cross race over there is like the last 25 guys in the last 45 minutes of the tour of flanders... but without the preceding 5 hours and 20 bergs.

probably wont see him race road but maybe a throw in once in awhile.
nijs, wellens, vervecken, etc have all largely raced cross and all have done very well.

adri van de poel was one one of the last to race across more disciplines...
might not see it again for awhile

looking at the time splits it looks like a freakin tt..
guys each 5 seconds apart. must have been fast and hard surface...barely split up.

lousy course..needed some sand or something
30th place only 1 1/2 minutes behind.

Isn't Boom World U23 ITT champ? I'll have to double check on that but that what memory recollects...

Yep, he is.

Look at his top cross results in the past 13 months:

Two national titles
One U23 World Title
Three World Cup wins
One Elite World Title

Pretty damn good.

Good for Lars. Agree with stevep though... the time splits read "lousy course."

If they're going to run a dirt crit they should add a challenge a la SS worlds. Chug a pitcher of beer/wine/grappa that is symbolic of the host nation. Chug placing + race placing = champion.

Didn't Adri Van der Poel, in his role as UCI Cross Czar, design both this course and the fast 2002 WChamp course in Zolder? I think he should be relieved of his duties, or at least encouraged to include some more obstacles.

Cees, I'd like to reserve your spare bedroom above the shop for next year's cross worlds.

Well there's one bit of great news for the US from the Cross Worlds, and that is confirmation that USA Cycling have abandoned that god-awful, hideous, ugly and horrendous jersey design they have cursed their riders with for the last few seasons! You can only see a bit of it in this pic, but that's enough to note a huge improvement.

I agree, when I saw the new kit in a photo I breathed a sigh of relief...
