It's been about 6 years since I have tried to take a full bike case on a plane, and back then the most I paid was $75 one way I think. Does anyone have a current example of what they've paid? I'll be flying ANA (all Nippon) out of Dulles to Tokyo in a couple of weeks and thinking of toting the 'nilla back here for a few months. It told me on the phone it wanted to see the cherry trees blossom in Japan at least once in its life. I've been on the ANA website, and I couldn't find where it addresses bikes specifically, just has some sliding scale with sizing, and it gets expensive pretty quick.

With a full sized bike case I paid $150 each way on United international. This was two years ago.

11.4 says to paint you bike box a bright flourescent color and stencil "rescue equiptment" on it. That will do the trick.
