If that's Jack Black, he's headed in the wrong direction. He was ok in High Fidelity, but since then over exposure.

This is quite a fun game of "Who in the hell are they?" Some are pretty easy but others? Then again, I don't know if their families would recognize them (they probably haven't seen them since they dropped out of high school... To rock)

I will say that most of them look like they have taken a few beat-downs in their day. Skinny little punks. They make bike racers look tough.

Tenacious D and Roxy Music couldn't be more different but they do both rule.

i used to work with janet in an ad agency in portland. one day she said she was leaving to try and make her music work.

a few months later there was a full page article on the band in rolling stone. i believe they named one of their albums in the top 100 of last century.

The band Sting put together post-Police had Kenny Kirkland, Omar Hakim, Branford Marsalis, and Darryl Jones when Omar left I believe Manu Katche, then Vinnie 'the monster' Colaiuta played drums.

I saw them live in 1987 - they were tight to say the least.

...

but then I saw Spinal Tap was already listed - sonofcrap! none of Sting's bandmates ever spontaneously combusted! :) :)

The Velvet Underground was an American rock band first active from 1965 to 1970 (and 1970 to 1973 in a different incarnation). Its best-known members were Lou Reed and John Cale. Although never commercially successful while together, the Velvet Underground are often cited by critics as one of the most important and influential groups of their era.[1] A famous remark, often attributed to British musician Brian Eno, is that while only a few thousand people bought the first Velvet Underground record upon its release, almost every single one of them was inspired to start a band

Posing...is a key element to rock and roll.

The theater aspect is completely essential to creating the myth.

I love The Stones, but compare them to the guys to whom they appropriated their early music from....and they 'pale' in comparison.

Speaking of that, do you know that Scorcese tried to leave the Muddy Waters clip of Mannish Boy out of the Last Waltz! The most real thing in the movie.

One good thing about the Stones, they always knew they were posers and took the real thing as opening acts on tour with them.
