I have a 1990 Nova Special. I want to upgrade my fork but I'm not sure if it's 1" or 1 1/8". Does anyone know? I'm guessing it's 1" since it's older, but I don't want to drop the dough until I know for sure... thanks.

If you are using a quill stem, it's 1".

Thanks Dave. So, If I buy a 1" threadless fork, threadless headset and stem I'm good to go right?

If I'm reading right (and that's *always* in question), its >99%. The only gotcha could be if (very, very unlikely) you've got an oversize headset in there now (meaning thousandths of an inch oversize, which only get used for really old 'must save this one' sort of love-affair-with-frame.

Brandecks -

you got it, a 1" threadless fork, no thread set and 1" stem will work. I have made the switch myself on an early 1990s frame. No problem, but I did have my lbs make the switch, remove the old headset and press the new one in.

Measure your headtube and add the HS height + Stem. Order the correct fork steerer length.

Uh, hows come you are changing out your fork / stem? Curious minds.

VArider, I see you.
