So long as the bag was re-sealed. I could understand the owner opening the bag of bacon for a snack attack, but realizing he/she needed some cash and could do so by selling said bacon.

I thought you just might mean "used" as in already eaten and, well, uh, you know . . . Ick.

Just going on past experience with your posts . . . :D ;)

Make no mistake BBD. If we ever find ourselves on a group ride, pull over for brunch, eat waffles, bacon and you've got some leftover bacon on your plate, odds are before the waiter/waitress grabs your plate, I WILL snag said bacon.

Dragging this back on topic, why wouldn't the OP (or anyone else for that matter) buy lightly used tubulars? I picked some up from a clubmate because they were the same as the ones I'd brought new, hadn't had much use and were perhaps 30% of new cost.

I struggle with used shorts, though I've sold them in the past (washed, obviously). I'd buy used shoes though - I've got two nice pairs of Sidis that way.

I wouldn't want to buy anything 'structural' made of carbon secondhand. Heck, I'm not sure I'd buy anything structural and carbon brand new.

Used Brooks anyone?

MarleyMon

why just used aluminum or carbon?

"BKW: What tubing are you using with your lugs?

RS: It’s a version of Columbus’ Spirit called Spirit For Lugs. We call it PegoRichie. The oversized tubes I’d been using were less than friendly for brazing. I’d been using Dedacciai Zero tubing. Then I had a JRA [Just Riding Along] on a two-year-old frame. The seat tube broke nowhere near the heat affected zone; it cracked in half at the transition of a butt. Then I found out that Dario Pegoretti wasn’t using it for similar quality control reasons. We decided to team up with Columbus to make tubing for lugs. I feel much more secure than using any of that short butt stuff. The tubing is Niobium alloy. The goal was to make tubing that was 21st Century strong, oversized, light, resilient, and would enable a brazer to build a frame that was 3-3.5 lbs. I would probably have never switched brands, but I had a JRA and it happened to ME. The light went on when it happened to me, and Dario and I decided we needed to get away from the “tubing for industry” stuff."

I was just thinking the same thing. Any used aluminum frame for that matter...

Why not? I've been riding and racing on my " used" aluminum alloy frames for years. If those bike suddenly changed owners would they suddenly become unsafe?

No chit. Bidding already hit $46 for two Vittoria Rallys which are a bit better than gluing garden hose to your rims and prob. cost about $15 each, one Conti Giro a truck tyre in my HO AND it was prev. glued so who know what shape the base tape is in , one Tufo Elite with 1000 miles on it oh boy these are awful riding tyres even new.

PT Barnum is in full force. If you are bidding on this run away.

Please if you are going to ride the good stuff, keep it tight. Don't ride other peoples tyres...that's just not good.

xxoo, TT.

You couldn't imagine how popular and well they sell in our bike shop, Darren. We reorder 5-10 boxes at a time on a regular schedule. There are the constant well-liked flavors, but dang, we ordered some nasty, nasty tasting flavors (Pina Colada, Cola, Margarita, ... to give a variety) a few times and it took the special customer to purchase those.
Personally, I buy the Black Cherry (w/ caffeine). :D I can only handle so many Gu's on a long ride.
RA
I can think of numerous things, bike and unrelated bike, that are just unthinkable to buy used. Ohhh grosssssss.

Chains, Tubes, Cables, Bar tape, but I often re-cycle my OWN used stuff.
Most other cycling stuff is negotiable. I have no problem with used clothing, that's what washing machines (an occasionally sewing machines) are for.
