He won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in "My Left Foot". An amazing actor!

I have not seen "There Will be Blood" yet but, in the clips I have heard, he sounds like he is doing the same American accent he used in "Gangs of New York". The sort of booming, gruff "Amurican" voice "Monty Pyton" used to parody a lot late in their TV series.

he was truly terrifying in Gangs of New York...amazing actor, I cannot believe he didn't win an Oscar for that role.

I saw in interveiw with him, and I was surprised by how small, slight, and almost weak of a person he looked. He spoke very soft, and looked almost scared. At the very least nervous.

I coulnd't believe it was the same person.

He was born in England. I forgive him. He became an Irish citizen in 1993, yet another example the Irish rule. Stephen Roche, Sean Kelly, Daniel Day Lewis.

I enjoyed the movie, but it seemed as though the longer it went on, the more he sounded like Columbo.

The movie sucked. A lot. Martin Scorsese, sorry dude, just cause he directed it doesn't make it a ten. I'd say 'Gangs' is about 1/5th as good as 'State of Grace'.

This was a great movie of modern day Irishness in NY.

Some profanity in the movie:

I didn't think my comment deserved such a prompt and indignant reply, but whatever floats your boat.

I never said it was a ten (enjoyed = ten? sounding like Columbo = ten? ... whatever). I thought so much of it was "over the top" that I was laughing in the wrong places most of the time (particularly, as I recall, when the barber caught a hatchet in the back).

It's not about you. I said 'Gangs of New York' sucked and I meant it the first time. Are you Martin Scorsese (I was speaking to him). If so, I'd still offer my opinion the movie sucked.

********* = Star Trek fan?

I'll take the assumption that's what you mean/infer/etc.

(note to self, never tell the truth about 'Gangs of New York' a movie that DDL could not rescue alone).

I thought it was a pretty bad film also although Daniel Day Lewis was great - and great in everything I've seen him in.

Uh oh, you've done it now. As soon as Viper sobers up, he'll clog the thread with more rantings and pictures of Ireland and/or waifs.
