so i'm looking at quattro 4ti vs candy 4 ti for my rando bike. I ride the reg. candys for my commuter and for cross. I've never felt hot spots on my candys, but will I on serious long distance?

I have had good luck with mine on 6+ hour rides using my carbon sole racing shoes. I did get a hot spot on a four hour ride in Italy when I was wearing my MTB shoes while riding my road bike. IME, any cleat that uses an SPD type cleat needs a rigid sole shoe for riding distance.

I vote for the Quattros. Slightly bigger platform, narrower tread/q-factor and a much bigger inboard bearing.

Using Smartys on my snow/mud/rain/winter bike (similar to Candys...slightly larger platforms). I get a hot spot on my left foot every time at 30+. Not much on the right. I'm not sure if it's the shoe/cleat/adjustment or something with that foot....? I've tried everything with no luck. Sidi mtn shoes.

Also use Quatros on the CDA. Similar situation, but not nearly as bad. I love being able to use one set of shoes on all their pedals.

Q's on CSI Candy's on Riv...Have done 2X centuries on CSI and multiday tours on the Riv Atlantis...As noted above Q's have larger platform, but neither have been a problem for me and I have bad feet (plantar facitous sp?)...needless to say at 220 lbs, no ti spindles for me!
